30 Jul jtel-ACD prevented hacker attack. Are they also protected?
Online security is a pressing concern for the CIO community worldwide. Despite constant expansion of prevention measures, a hacker attack can cause significant disruptions, financial losses and damage to your image. It is a sad fact that the risks will never go away: what matters is the resilience of systems and the measures taken to protect them.
Communication platforms in particular have become the target of hacker attacks because they can open the door to fraud, the theft of user data and much more. As an experienced provider of enterprise and carrier software, we pay particular attention to this problem. We built security and resilience into our developments right from the start. We know that telecommunications networks are particularly attractive to hackers – in 2015, well-known security expert Kaspersky stated that the telecommunications industry was at the highest risk of being the target of a cyberattack.
So, as a trusted provider of quality carrier solutions, we have used all our expertise to protect all of our products, from the smallest enterprise to the largest carrier implementation. And our investments have borne fruit. Just recently, one of our customers with a cloud-based communications platform serving thousands of end customers suffered a massive attack on their jtel|ACD. The platform is used to offer service center functionalities and is therefore a central element of the IT infrastructure.
The attack came in two waves. The first lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes while the second rolled for 45 minutes. During these times, almost 25,000 illegal login attempts were counted. Nevertheless, the system remained secure and fully functional. Our software took precautionary measures to prevent logins during this time, while open sessions continued until the final attack was blocked.
System integrity was maintained, no illegal access had occurred and all data was protected – a vital outcome in light of the forthcoming GPDR legislation and the implications this has for responsibilities and any associated indemnities. This resilience is imperative and an essential must when looking for a new supplier or partner. It is not enough just to deliver functionality. Today’s systems must also be able to integrate with an organisation’s cybersecurity, regulations and processes to deliver the required performance while keeping users protected.
jtel’s expertise was instrumental in this. We have been developing high-quality solutions for the enterprise and carrier market for 20 years. This means that we have developed software and practices that put us ahead of all threats. As a partner, we work closely with our customers to ensure that our solutions can fit into existing security environments and we advise them on how to achieve the resilience that their operational objectives require.
Why not talk to us and find out which communication platform we can tailor to your needs while at the same time ensuring the best possible protection against cybercrime and Internet dangers.
