The DVTM has done preventative groundwork to make the mobile commerce market more secure in the short term. This means that political intervention is no longer necessary. The prominent members of the Code Advisory Board, including Professor Helmut Thoma and Dr Detlef Eckert, Director at the European Commission, expressly welcome this. ‘The new DVTM FairApp seal, the update of the Code to include mobile commerce topics and the new DVTM online shop, where the seal and Code can be obtained 24/7, are preventative, modern measures. The DVTM is thinking of consumers and companies alike. These pioneering measures set an example for Europe,’ says Dr Detlef Eckert.
The interactive German Code of Conduct for Telecommunications and Media published by the DVTM is now available to order from the DVTM online shop. The Code offers its users helpful guidelines and an overview of the legal and regulatory provisions to be complied with as well as best practice solutions in the Platinum version, which is subject to a charge. Purchasers of the Platinum version sign the Code and can advertise that they are participants in the TÜV Saarland-certified Code procedure.
Also available in the shop: the new DVTM FairApp seal, which was designed in close collaboration with Michael Alt, Head of the Code Commission and Managing Director of sonalba GmbH. The seal documents the quality and integrity of apps and ensures significantly more transparency with regard to the use of data by the app provider.
The new online shop was developed by DVTM member JTEL GmbH. JTEL is a highly specialised system house and software developer for telecommunications solutions. ‘Thanks to the first-class support from JTEL, the code can now be obtained quickly and unbureaucratically at any time,’ says Renatus Zilles, DVTM Chairman of the Board.
The German Association for Telecommunications and Media (DVTM) is the central interface for companies involved in the telecommunications and media value chain. These include service providers, network operators, service providers, resellers, technical service providers, media and publishing houses as well as consulting and collection companies. The aim of the association is to create a future-orientated, innovative and competitive telecommunications and media market in harmony with consumers, politics and business. The approximately 50 members of the association act voluntarily within the framework of the German Telecommunications and Media Code. The Code formulates industry standards and enables them to play an active role in shaping the market. The DVTM emerged from the trade association Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle Telefonmehrwertdienste (FST), which was founded in 1997. The organisation was renamed DVTM in February 2011.
