Accessible Agent Home for Braille readers

The accessible jtel Agent Home for Braille is available for employees who are blind or visually impaired. Optimised jtel software, the Braille reader (Braille display and keyboard) and the text-to-speech engine are important tools for these users.

The use of workstations for people with sight loss is not only an important issue in the private sector, but also in public institutions and authorities in particular due to legal regulations.

That’s why jtel offers a Braille workstation, because we want to give people with visual impairments the opportunity to work with our software. With jtel Agent Home for Braille, people with visual impairments can use the jtel Agent Home software efficiently and work independently on the computer.

Using the screen reader software and Braille keyboard, the text displayed on the computer screen is converted into Braille and output on the keyboard as a Braille display for reading. The Braille display is a computer output device that displays digital text and characters in Braille so that those affected can read the texts in Braille.

The jtel Agent Home for Braille has been designed so that the most important things come first.

Braille users thus save a measurable amount of time and find the most important functions and information at the top of the page.

Complexity has been avoided, for example functions that produce a lot of TTS output. And rather unimportant information such as page counters or navigation has been placed at the end. All information otherwise displayed in colour in the normal jtel Agent Home is shown in fully legible text so that the Braille reader can read it easily, for example the colours in the agent status.

The user can also quickly recognise which function the cursor is currently on. A flexible definition of easy-to-use shortcuts (access keys) on the keyboard can be used to place the most important jtel Agent Home functions for the Braille user so that they do not have to be searched for using many successive keystrokes.

All these small but important changes taken together lead to a considerable improvement in the barrier-free operation of the jtel Contact Centre.
