03 Nov Report from the User Group Meeting – Data Presentation and Outlook for the Future
The second edition of the jtel User Group Meeting took place on October 1st and was (hopefully!) enjoyed by everyone. Fortunately, we were able to have a mixed event with around 12 people attending in person and over 50 people attending online. We are our partner T.D.M. very grateful for hosting the event and for the hospitality they extended to everyone.
Reporting and BI integration – making data accessible
One of the main topics was reporting. This has become an increasingly important concern for many as information needs to be shared between different business processes. Extracting, aggregating, presenting and transmitting important business information is essential for efficient digitalization and ensuring that companies maximize their insights from different systems by sharing data across many sources.
Therefore, both our CEO Lewis Graham and Dietmar Klug, Managing Director of T.D.M. Marketing GmbH, paid particular attention to the creation of reports. Mr. Graham focused on the training we offer as well as tips to ensure you can create the reports you need for use in your BI and data warehousing systems, while Mr. Klug highlighted T.D.M.’s efforts. in creating his own customized Jasper reports.
As you probably know, Jasper is an open source tool that can process data and transfer it to various target formats – PDF files, Excel, CSV, etc. So it was an excellent case study that showed how jtel users use tools to generate the reports they need in the formats required by their systems.
Different stakeholders need different insights from shared data
Of particular interest is the fact that different people in an organization have different perspectives and can also interpret the KPIs differently depending on their roles and responsibilities. The work presented by T.D.M. was therefore very insightful, as Mr. Klug was able to explain how these different needs can be met by presenting the data available in jtel in different formats and in different ways – ensuring that each stakeholder has the right view on e.g. service level KPIs that matches their perspective .
Finally, some of you have asked for improvements to the statistics we provide, following which Mr Graham gave a detailed introduction to the subject, explaining both the complexities of managing these statistics and jtel’s plans for further progress in this area. We look forward to your feedback.
A new home for the jtel community
In addition to this valuable discussion, we also presented the delegates with our new platform, which we plan to introduce in the future – a virtual home for the jtel community. It’s still in the implementation and launch phase, but we want to open it by the end of the year – hopefully in time for Christmas.
This new platform provides a comprehensive forum for interaction, exchange of ideas and tips, as well as exclusive access to jtel content. We are very happy about this development because we have recognized that learning from each other is a constant process. Of course, we can pack a lot into a regular meeting, but we recognize that ongoing dialogue and the provision of ad hoc advice and information are also important – especially as our community grows.
Next virtual meeting? Before Christmas! The countdown to our 25th birthday is on
Of course, this will not replace our regular meetings – with that in mind, we are planning another shorter virtual meeting in December and a larger meeting towards the end of Q1 2022. And next year will be special – because it is our 25th anniversary. We’ve been proud to serve our customers for a quarter of a century (a long time in the software industry – and a lot of cars ), and we have a whole host of announcements coming soon, so keep an eye out for them in the next few months exciting news.
That’s it for now – but we would like to thank everyone who attended, and especially our hosts, T.D.M. See you next issue!
